Peter McVerry Trust welcomes date for new Charity Regulatory Authority
Peter McVerry Trust has welcomed the announcement from the Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence Alan Shatter TD that the long awaited charity regulatory authority is to be established in 2014.
Pat Doyle, CEO of Peter McVerry Trust, said “The establishment of a regulatory authority for the charity sector is a very important step. It will increase public confidence and strengthen governance across the sector. Peter McVerry Trust has for the last 30 years depended on the generosity and goodwill of the public to support vulnerable young people and it is important that all donors.”
“Peter McVerry Trust already has a robust system of governance as well as strong fundraising principles and we will be publishing our first annual report later this year. We look forward to working with new regulatory authority when it is established.”
