Peter McVerry Trust welcomes creation of Oireachtas Committee on Housing and Homelessness
Pat Doyle CEO of the Peter McVerry Trust has welcomed the creation of an Oireachtas Committee on Housing and Homelessness. The charity which had called for the committee to be created said the committee can play a key role in helping create a more coherent and sustainable housing system.
Mr Doyle said “Peter McVerry Trust welcomes the cross party support for our creation of an Oireachtas Committee on Housing and Homelessness. We called for this committee to be created because we need ongoing, permanent focus on the issues of housing and homelessness. Unfortunately, political attention can and has been sporadic particularly on homelessness. Now with an Oireachtas committee in place politicians can analyse, debate and scrutinise solutions to the housing and homeless emergencies.”
Concluding Mr Doyle said, “Peter McVerry Trust looks forward to an early invitation to address the Committee and its members at the earliest opportunity.”
