Kildare Homeless Services

Anyone seeking support in respect of homeless and housing services during office hours should continue to contact Kildare County Council. The homeless unit can be contacted on 045 980705 or by emailing: homelesshousing@kildarecoco.ie.

KCC- PMVT Emergency Accommodation – Newbridge

Since December 2014, Peter McVerry Trust has operated a supported temporary accommodation service in Newbridge, Co Kildare, on behalf of Kildare County Council. This service provides high quality accommodation with professional on site supports to adults experiencing homelessness in the county.

As of March 2017, the facility’s capacity stands at 21 beds. The service accommodates both male and female residents.

KCC- PMVT Emergency Accommodation – Athy

Peter McVerry Trust as of June 2017 provides family specific emergency homeless capacity in Athy, Co. Kildare. In partnership with Kildare County Council, the charity is undertook extensive works at the site of the former Dominican Priory in Athy. This site will provide high quality accommodation for  families and others impacted by homelessness.

 

Out of Hours Freephone – Information and Advice Service

The Out of Hours Information and Advice Service for County Kildare is operated by Peter McVerry Trust on behalf of Kildare County Council.

The service offers information and advice to those at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness in Kildare. The freephone number operates outside of Kildare County Council’s office hours and at weekends. Please note the operating hours below.

Freephone Operating Hours: The freephone number is active from 5pm -9pm Monday to Friday. It operates from Noon – 5pm Saturday & Sunday.

Housing for Young Adults / Aftercare Accommodation

In December 2016 Peter McVerry Trust began operating the first aftercare accommodation until for young people exiting residential care settings. This service ensures that young people exiting care do not enter into adult homelessness upon reaching their 18th birthday. Peter McVerry Trust will seek to increase the capacity of provide aftercare accommodation in Kildare in order to meet the needs of this particularly vulnerable population.

Tenancy Sustainment

Peter McVerry Trust works to place people in the private rental market as a means to exit homelessness. In order to help people who exit into the rental market Peter McVerry Trust offers ongoing supports to tenants to sustain their housing.

Social Housing in Kildare

Peter McVerry Trust is an Approved Housing Body (AHB) and will be introducing a number of new social housing schemes in Kildare in the coming years. The charity already ahs a number of social housing properties scattered across  Kildare and it will be important the number of units is increased to deliver pathways to housing.
