Colm and Dean leave homelessness through Housing with Supports
Colm and Dean were both homeless for many years before moving into their own home with another friend.
They were living in drug-free aftercare accommodation with Peter McVerry Trust before securing a property through the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP). The Peter McVerry Trust Housing with Supports team also engaged with Dublin City Council to help the men with HAP so they could move to private rental accommodation.
“We had the support of the staff all the way through that,” says Colm. “They made it as smooth as possible.
“I’ve been homeless for years. All I’ve ever dreamed of was a home of my own. We’ve created that home that we’ve craved and wanted for a long time.”
