Peter McVerry Trust Social Outreach Programme
The social outreach programme offered by Peter McVerry Trust is a one week’s rolling programme, which aims to raise awareness of social issues such as homelessness and drug use.
Peter McVerry Trust’s Social Outreach Programme centres around interactive discussions to gain new perspectives on homelessness and addiction. The purpose of the placement is to learn: why some people become and remain homeless; why some people use drugs; the difficulty in giving up drugs; how homeless people see their past and see their future; to compare homeless people’s experience with your own.
Activities typically include
• An introductory talk on homeless in Ireland and different service offered by Peter McVerry Trust
• Meeting Fr McVerry, staff and service users
• Interviews with our service users
• Visiting our drop in centre, stabilisation service and one of our residential services
• Visit to the Criminal Courts of Justice
To be open to observations and interactions with both our service users and staff.
This is a very popular programme and spaces are limited. The Transition Year programme is now fully booked for the 2018-19 academic year.
We will begin taking bookings for the 2019-20 academic year in January 2019. Email email@example.com for further details.
