Climb Kilimanjaro 2014

The following information has been provided by the tour operator and exact details are subject to change please contact fundraising@pmvtrust.ie or call 01 823 0776 for further details.

Our expedition will take you on an adventure of a life time to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, the ‘Roof of Africa’ with one of the world’s leadings adventure companies and some of the most experienced and passionate guides from Ireland and Tanzania. Many companies underestimate this mountain and ascend too fast, leaving many of the team with altitude sickness, we allow 7 days to acclimatise and this maximises your chance of a successful summit attempt. We have over 1,500 of our team reaching the summit over the last 10 years with a 98% success rate.  You couldn’t be in better hands with Pat Falvey Irish & Worldwide Adventures to make your dream a reality.

Mt. Kilimanjaro – This climb is a favourite for many travellers to the African continent and can be achieved anyone with a good level of fitness who enjoy’s a challenge, or the average hillwalker looking for their first high altitude climb.

It is not only Africa’s highest point, it is the highest free standing mountain in the world. Kilimanjaro is actually a huge crater known as Kibo over 2km wide with several distinct cones, the highest being Uhuru Peak. The name is believed to come from Swahili, ‘Kilima’ meaning ‘white or shining’ and ‘Njaro’ meaning ‘ hill or little mountain’.

The variety of scenery, ancient cultures, flora and fauna coupled with the challenge of this amazing and spectacular climb can stay with a person forever. Our team will provide you with everything required for a safe and memorable climbing experience that we have been improving since 1998. Our team in Africa abide to local guidelines by providing all staff with proper wages, safety, and weight restrictions. The Machame route covers 100km approx. and elevates 4,400m from route start to summit.
