In 2015 we partnered with the likes of Dublin Chamber of Commerce, Saint Gobain Ireland and the Construction Industry Federation. Below is a short summary of those partnerships and how they helped deliver positive outcomes for some of Ireland’s most vulnerable citizens.
Peter McVerry Trust was delighted to be chosen as Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s charity partner for 2015. This partnership saw Peter McVerry Trust engage with members of the chamber throughout the year. Companies and their employees took part in a wide range of Peter McVerry Trust fundraising events throughout the year. The Chamber also organised fundraisers to benefit the work of Peter McVerry Trust including a cycle from San Sebastian to Barcelona as well as donating funds from the annual gala dinner and Christmas lunch to Peter McVerry Trust. Funds raised by Dublin Chamber of Commerce supported Peter McVerry Trust’s work to provide safe and supportive spaces to people sleeping rough in the City and to increase capacity of the charity’s housing first approach.
Peter McVerry Trust began working with Saint Gobain Ireland in 2014. The partnership focused on the renovation of a block of ex local authority flats in Dublin 8. Saint-Gobain Ireland secured funding of €100,000 to help Peter McVerry Trust renovate these units and make them available to people in homeless services.
Speaking at the official opening of the 6 new apartments in July 2015 Pat Doyle CEO of Peter McVerry Trust said “Peter McVerry Trust is extremely appreciative of the support Saint-Gobain Ireland provided. The €100,000 funding that they secured has allowed us to transform these empty units back into homes of the highest standards.”
Speaking on behalf of Saint-Gobain Ireland Brian Dolan, Managing Director, said “We were delighted to be able to assist the Peter McVerry Trust on this project, given the deepening crisis in social housing in Ireland. This project will give 6 people homes and we hope that their new home brings them security and pride. Part of our corporate and social responsibility is to support our local communities, and supporting a building project for the Peter McVerry Trust is a great match in that regard.”
‘Moving On’ – Is a short film capturing the impact of the Saint Gobain ireland Peter McVerry Trust project
In Summer 2015 the Construction Industry Federation together with its members and supporters agreed to partner with Peter McVerry Trust on a project to transform 12 derelict bedsits in the City. The units would be used to help tackle the acute housing shortage for those on the social housing waiting list.
In a little less than 12 weeks over 75 companies supported the project and helped to produce 12 high quality studio apartments in time for Christmas.
