Mapping Empty Homes

As part of our Empty Homes Initiative Peter McVerry Trust are mapping vacant and derelict properties using the campaign platform Reusing Dublin. Gathering data on vacant and derelict property is the first step in identifying and reusing empty buildings for the purpose of providing social housing to people currently experiencing, or at the immediate risk of homelessness.

What type of information is Peter McVerry Trust looking for?

The location of vacant or underused buildings and sites and other useful information such as their history, current state or potential.

Do you have information on a vacant or derelict property?

Simply log on to www.reusingdublin.ie and add your information to the map. Reusing Dublin is also available as through the Space Engagers app. The app can be downloaded for free from the app store or play store.

What happens to the data? How does Peter McVerry Trust use it?

The data helps the Peter McVerry Trust Empty Homes Officers keep on top of the vacancy situation and provides a starting point for their investigations into selected properties that may be suitable for reuse.
