As CEO of Peter McVerry Trust I would like to take this opportunity to say a very special thank you to all the friends and supporters including our colleagues in the voluntary and statutory sectors.
Throughout 2015 Peter McVerry Trust has continued, as it always has done, to respond to the needs of vulnerable, young homeless people. We have opened new services such as our youth café, delivered 36 new apartments, opened 12 family suites, and provided 20 cold weather beds that have opened in the run up to Christmas.
This work is possible because of the generosity and solidarity that our supporters share with Peter McVerry Trust and those with whom we work. I would like to sincerely thank you on behalf of the organisation and those with whom we work for that support.
I would also like to pay tribute to the staff of Peter McVerry Trust whose dedication and commitment to our vision helps to provide a standard of care that respects the value and dignity of each individual. This vision is exemplified by our founder Fr Peter McVerry whose outstanding contribution to Irish society continues to be recognised through the receipt of many distinguished awards.
Finally, I continue to feel privileged to see so many incredible journeys of people overcoming adversity to achieve success in their own lives. I want to wish a very special Merry Christmas to the children who will spend Christmas in our children and family services, to every family across our services, the couples, and the hundreds of individuals in our adult services.
I hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I look forward to working with you in 2016 as we strive to deliver a society that values all those on the margins and includes them in a more equal and just society.
