This year’s installment of the Long Walk Home series sees Peter McVerry Trust take on the Barrow Way. The Barrow, which is Ireland’s second longest river, offers walkers the chance to take in some of the best paths and walking routes in Ireland.
The Barrow Way Challenge will cover around 75 km over three days from the 2nd-4th May. The route is designated as a National Waymarked Trail and combines part of the Grand Canal (Barrow Line Canal) with the River Barrow. It is now managed by Waterways Ireland. The starting point for this year’s journey is Bagnelstown Lock in Carlow and while we will finish up in Robertstown Co. Kildare.
