Transitional Accommodation

Aims:

  • To provide transitional accommodation for single, homeless men over the age of 18 years.
  • To respond to the individual needs of residents in order to allow them to progress to more independent living.
  • To provide a supportive service based on respect and dignity.

Target group:

The Residential Transitional Service will accept homeless men over 18 years of age who are:

  • Willing to address issues which have contributed to their homelessness.
  • Stabilised on a methadone programme and are addressing their drug/ alcohol addictions.
  • Willing to engage in either education and training options or employment.
  • Willing to progress to more independent accommodation options after their stay with the service.
  • Willing to abide by the guidelines of the house and respect others during their stay.

Length of Stay:

A resident's length of stay is generally 6-12 months, however, depending on circumstances, a longer or shorter stay can be arranged. Residents’ needs in relation to their ability to move on are assessed individually, however, all residents are actively encouraged to progress to more independent accommodation.

Facilities:

The Residential Transitional Service can accommodate up to five residents. There is a communal living room, kitchen, bathroom and toilet. All rooms are fully furnished and laundry facilities are available for residents. Breakfast and evening meals are provided and residents are encouraged to cook an evening meal with staff. Each resident is assigned a key-worker.

Referral Procedures:

The Residential Transitional Service accepts either self or agency referral. All referrals are made through the Referral  and Case Management Co-ordinator - 01 8230776.
