Residential Community Detox
The Residential Community Detox, which has Clinical Governance approval from the HSE Northern Area, is a service which supports individuals to detox from methadone through a 6-week residential programme.
Support is provided from a multi-disciplinary team including a visiting G.P., nurse, psychotherapist, counsellor, manager and project workers.
Once admitted the residents participate in a 2-tier programme. The first element of the programme provides daily psycho-educational groups on personal development, relapse prevention, health and nutrition, equipping the residents with the practical skills to remain drug free. The second part of the group work is a horticultural programme where residents learn about nature by developing and maintaining the 6 acres of land surrounding the unit. This is overseen by a qualified horticulturist.
On admission each resident is assigned a key worker who assesses their needs and develops a care plan in line with the resident setting goals and targets for the duration of their stay as well as planning for their move-on to further treatment.
Residents in line with staff participate in daily life skills such as cooking, cleaning and laundry.
The project can cater for 7 residents at a time, and is located in the countryside in north county Dublin.
