I'm often asked questions about the funding of my bicycle trip ("Does your government sponsor you?" being one of my favourites here in Nigeria!) and sometimes, usually by other travellers, I'm asked whether I'm fund raising for a particular cause. I've decided that since I'm already doing the trip that it also provides a great opportunity to raise some money for a worthy cause - and I didn't have to look too far from home when I was selecting an organisation that I wanted to help. Having listened to Father Peter McVerry speak on a couple of occasions and having watched and listened to TV and radio documentaries on the inspirational work and life of Fr. McVerry and the work that the Trust undertakes supporting young homeless people in Dublin, I knew that this was a charity that deserves support.
