Pat was appointed as the first CEO of the Peter McVerry Trust in late 2005 to drive the charity's first Development Plan, the main aim of which was to consolidate Fr. He managed BOND from 2000 to 2005; this service provided accommodation to young people returning to Blanchardstown from prison. From 2002-2005 he chaired two initiatives, Blanchardstown Homeless Forum (ROOFS) which developed a local response to tackling homelessness and ‘Blanchardstown Equal Initiative’ which focused on the inclusion on the most marginalised in the work place. A core part of its work was to pilot an action to develop ‘Interagency Protocols’ for working with drug users. He is currently a Director of Balcurris Boys Hostel, Belvedere Social Services and Tabor House, which are all facilities for young people in care associated with the Peter McVerry Trust. He currently chairs NEVA (Network of Ex-prisoner Voluntary Agencies) and is Chair of the Homeless Network, Vice- Chair of the Multi Agency Working Group on Sex Offenders (MAG) and a member of the Inter-Agency Advisory Group (IAG) which is overseeing the reconfiguration of homeless services in Dublin.
